 V Tschechisch (cs)Kopřivy vyrůstají prostřednictvím stonkových výběžků (''rhizomů'') v kolonie dosahující výšky jednoho až dvou metrů. Výběžkové výhony jsou nažloutlé barvy, probíhají mělce pod, řidčeji nad zemí a vysílají ze svých uzlů tuhé, rovněž nažloutlé kořenové provazce do hloubky, z nichž pak bělavé jemné kořínky, bohatě větvené, prostupují svrchní půdou. Z uzlů ''rhizomu'' vyrůstají vzhůru vždy dvě rostlinky. Stoupají s rozhodnou vzpřímecí silou a přísně harmonickým, geometrickým řádem do výšky. Ostrovně se výhonky shromažďují a ohraničují se navenek do bojovného obalu, který v silně stínícím listovém patru uzavírá vnitřní prostor. Kopřivě je vlastní «vnitřní působení», jež se soustřeďuje v tomto vnitřním prostoru, pokračuje do kořenového prostoru a takto harmonizuje neuspořádaný život půdy a přeměňuje ji v plodný trvalý humus.
 V Deutsch (de)Die Brennnesseln wachsen über Stängelausläufer (''Rhizome'') zu ein bis zwei Metern hohen Kolonien auf. Die Ausläufertriebe sind gelblich gefärbt, laufen flach unter, seltener über der Erde und senden aus ihren Knoten zähe ebenfalls gelbliche Wurzelstränge in die Tiefe, von welchen aus dann die weißliche Feinbewurzelung, reich verzweigt, den Oberboden durchzieht. Aus den ''Rhizom''knoten wachsen nach oben jeweils zwei Pflänzchen. Sie streben mit entschiedener Aufrichtekraft und streng harmonischer, geometrischer Ordnung in die Höhe. Inselartig versammeln sich die Sprosse und grenzen sich nach außen zu einer wehrhaften Hülle ab, die im stark schattenden Blattwerk ein Inneres umschließt. Der Brennnessel ist eine «Innenwirkung» eigen, die sich in diesem Innenraum konzentriert, sich in den Wurzelraum hinein fortsetzt und so das ungeordnete Leben des Bodens harmonisiert und in fruchtbaren Dauerhumus überführt.

From each rhizome node two small shoots grow upward. They strive upward with resolute uprighting force and strictly harmonious, geometric order. Island-like, the shoots gather together and set themselves off outwardly in a defensive sheath that — within the deeply shading foliage — encloses an interior. The stinging nettle has an «Innenwirkung» ("inward working") that concentrates itself in this inner space, continues down into the root zone, and so harmonises the disordered life of the soil and transforms it into enduring, fertile stable humus.
 V Spanisch (es)Las ortigas crecen a través de estolones subterráneos (''rizomas'') formando colonias de uno a dos metros de altura. Los brotes estoloníferos son de color amarillento, discurren planos bajo tierra y más raramente sobre ella, y envían desde sus nudos tenaces haces radiculares también amarillentos hacia las profundidades, desde los cuales la fina raicilla blanquecina, ricamente ramificada, atraviesa el horizonte superior del suelo.  V Französisch (fr)Les orties se développent en colonies de un à deux mètres de hauteur par des stolons souterrains (''rhizomes''). Ces stolons sont de couleur jaunâtre, courent à faible profondeur sous la surface — plus rarement au-dessus — et envoient depuis leurs nœuds des cordons racinaires coriaces, également jaunâtres, vers la profondeur, à partir desquels un chevelu racinaire blanchâtre, richement ramifié, parcourt l'horizon de surface. De chaque nœud du ''rhizome'' poussent vers le haut deux jeunes plants. Ils s'élèvent avec une force de redressement décidée et un ordre géométrique strictement harmonieux. Les pousses se rassemblent en îlots et se délimitent vers l'extérieur en une enveloppe défensive qui, dans le dense feuillage ombrageux, enserre un espace intérieur. L'ortie possède en propre une «action intérieure» qui se concentre dans cet espace intérieur, se prolonge dans l'espace racinaire et harmonise ainsi la vie désordonnée du sol en la convertissant en un humus stable et fertile.

Pędy rozłogowe mają żółtawe zabarwienie, biegną płasko pod ziemią, rzadziej nad nią, i wysyłają ze swych węzłów żylaste, również żółtawe sznury korzeniowe w głąb, od których następnie biała, drobna korzeniowina, bogato rozgałęziona, przenika warstwę wierzchnią gleby. Z węzłów kłącza wyrastają ku górze każdorazowo dwa pędki. Dążą w górę z zdecydowaną siłą wyprostowania i surowym harmonijnym, geometrycznym ładem. Wyspowo skupiają się pędy i odgraniczają ku zewnątrz obronną osłoną, która w silnie zacieniającym ulistnieniu zamyka w sobie wnętrze. Pokrzywie właściwe jest «działanie wewnętrzne», które koncentruje się w tej przestrzeni wewnętrznej, rozciąga w przestrzeń korzeniową i w ten sposób harmonizuje nieuporządkowane życie gleby i przekształca je w żyzny, trwały humus wierzchni.
