Prochází-li semeno ohněm, je plameny zcela pohlceno; zbývá pozemský podíl, popel. Oheň jako živel se na jedné straně smyslově zjevuje ve fenoménech tepla a světla. Druhá, působící vnitřní strana ohně je nadsmyslová. V lidském prožívání může toto nadsmyslové být zkušenostně dosažitelné jako zjev na duševní rovině — například tehdy, kdy duchovní impuls vzněcuje duši k ohni nadšení. Kdekoli oheň nastoupí, pohlcuje to, co se stalo fyzickým, a proměňuje to v popel. Z hlediska duchovně-působného svědčí popel o procesu läuterace, o takovém, který jsoucnu vštěpuje nové zárodky stávání se.
