From their life processes of breaking down organic substance, nitrogen arises and passes — through the dead salt form — directly into the life processes of building up. The life body of the plant governs the moment of death that belongs to the salt form. With the massive supply of synthesized nitrogen salts, the plant finds itself subjected, as it were, to a compulsion to take these up. In accordance with their origin, they are bearers of forces from sub-nature, forces that work against the formative forces of supra-nature.
