Many weed species are indicator plants with respect to soil structure — for example: waterlogging, compaction, soil tilth, the nitrogen household, and soil acidity.[1] The members of the rotation can be divided, with regard to the occurrence of specific weeds and weed grasses, into three groups: cereal crops, root crops, perennial fodder plants. Horticultural rotations are essentially root-crop rotations.
