One digs a pit not too deep in fertile living topsoil, lays the mass inside, surrounds it with a little peat, and covers it over again with earth. At this site it remains for a full year, exposed there both to the winter forces and to the summer forces. After a year one digs out the mass — by now considerably shrunken through decomposition and advanced humification — and holds in one's hands the finished preparation: a new, an astrally radiating substantiality. The practical handling requires great attentiveness regarding the right state of wilting; direct sunlight should also be avoided during the wilting.
