Just as animal husbandry and horticulture developed into organs of a nascent organism of a higher order in their passage through the turn of the ages, so too did fruit growing. It arranged itself adjoining the gardens as a further seam around the village, in the form of orchards with a rich diversity of high-stemmed trees. In proximity to the stables, the orchards also supplied the fresh green fodder for the young animals.
