Just as the lake, the pond, the river or the course of a stream belong to the landscape and to the farm, so too does the fish-nature living within them. It «ensoul» the waters and makes them organs of the farm and village organisms. It lies in the hands of the farmer to tend these landscape organs, to enrich them artfully through the laying-out of ponds, to care as far as possible for their purity, and to ensure that flowing waters are not disturbed in their natural course.
