Agriculture is, in polar contrast to industry, embedded in the whole household of nature, the *Oikos*. Value creation is the achievement of nature. Out of the reciprocal relational nexus of inorganic (physical), living, and ensouled nature, and under the influences of the cosmos in all rhythmic activity, the grain of wheat, the carrot, the milk, and so forth arise as the productive achievement — and in strict site-specificity. Nature is the producer; the human being steps in and through his labour guides her generative force. The means of production are not the machines, the tractor, the combine harvester, and so on — these only replace and enhance the capacities of the human hand and animal tractive power — but rather the fertile soil, the fruit-forming, nourishment-giving plants, and the domestic animals with their respective contribution to production. In a transferred sense, these constitute the production capital of agriculture.
