Anders verhält es sich mit Pfahlwurzel, Halm, Stängel und Stamm. Deren Vertikalimpuls liegt stofflich nicht der Humus als Dünger zugrunde, sondern das Kristallin des Quarzes, der Silikate und Tonmineralien (vgl. Kap. «Die Entstehung der Tonmineralien und ihre Neubildung», S. 209 ff.). Diese Kieselminerale vermitteln die einstrahlenden Kräfte der Sonne, der Planeten und Fixsterne auf indirektem Weg. Durch den Dung wird der Pflanze die Anlage vermittelt, sich bis in die äußere Gestaltbildung zu individualisieren, sich stärker eigenwesenhaft mit den Wirkungen der Erde und des Kosmos zu verbinden. So gesehen, muss man, wie bereits angedeutet, allen voran dem Rinderdünger im Hinblick auf den Lebenszusammenhang von Boden und Pflanzen ein «erzieherisches» Vermögen zusprechen.

These silica minerals mediate the raying-in forces of the sun, the planets and fixed stars by an indirect path. The plant, rooted fast in the earth, shapes its vertical form in "cosmic upward streaming" as the image of its supersensible spirit being. Animal manure is now able — so one may surmise — by virtue of the "I-disposition" woven into it through the astral body and etheric body of the animal, to make the plant being more independent in relation to its being held within the locally given conditions of the heights and the depths. Through the dung, the disposition is mediated to the plant to individualize itself even into its outward form-building, to connect itself more strongly, in its own essential nature, with the workings of earth and cosmos. Seen thus, one must — as already indicated — attribute above all to cattle manure, with regard to the living context of soil and plants, an "educative" capacity.

La planta se crea a sí misma, firmemente enraizada en la tierra, en «corriente cósmica ascendente», su forma vertical como imagen de su ser espiritual suprasensible. El abono animal puede, pues —así cabe conjeturar—, en virtud de la «disposición del Yo» que le ha sido incorporada a través del cuerpo astral y el cuerpo etérico del animal, hacer al ser vegetal más independiente respecto de su sujeción a las condiciones locales de las alturas y las profundidades. A través del abono se le transmite a la planta la disposición de individualizarse hasta en su formación de la forma exterior, de unirse de manera más propia a su ser propio con las acciones de la tierra y del cosmos. Desde esta perspectiva, hay que atribuir al abono bovino por encima de todo, como ya se ha indicado, en relación con el nexo vital entre suelo y plantas, una capacidad «educativa».
