Man kann dies die Stufe der «Wirksamkeit»,<ref>Rudolf Steiner: ''Anthroposophische Leitsätze'', GA 26, «Menschheitszukunft und Michaeltätigkeit», Dornach 1998, S. 94f.</ref> die des wirksamen Lebendigen, nennen. Im Spannungsfeld zum Schwefel entfaltet das Kalium im Lebendigen seine Wirksamkeit, die vom irdischen Pol her in die Eiweißbildung im Blattbereich führt. In der Blüte tritt die Eiweißbildung fast ganz zurück. Sie setzt sich in die Bildung des Samens hinein fort. So ist in der Blüte der Kaliumprozess gleichsam aus seiner Wirksamkeit im Lebendigen entlassen. Er verfeinert sich in den Zustand des Keimhaften, zu dem, was man im Bild als die sich willenlos öffnende Geste der Blüte empfinden kann. Dieser Zustand währt einen Augenblick, und schon verfällt das Keimhafte dieses Substanzprozesses mit dem Absterben der Pflanze der Mineralisierung, in den Zustand der Determiniertheit der physischen Eigenschaften zurück. Im Augenblick des Blühens setzt aber die Präparation ein. Durch die Umhüllung mit der Edelwildblase und die weiteren Schritte der Präparation wird das Kalium, das in der Blüte die höchste Stufe seiner Verwandlung ins Lebendige erreicht hat, losgelöst von der Trägerpflanze, in Wirksamkeit gehalten. Dies deutet darauf hin, dass das Kalium jetzt im Flusse seiner Belebung empfänglich für eine höhere Sphäre wird, für diejenige der Offenbarung seines Wesens. Dadurch ist der Erdenstoff Kalium nicht nur in die Sphäre des Lebens, sondern in die des empfindungstragenden Lebens emporgehoben. Es wird zum Träger eines von Innerlichkeit durchdrungenen Lebens.

In the field of tension with sulphur, potassium unfolds its efficacy within the living — working from the earthly pole into protein formation in the leaf zone. In the blossom, protein formation recedes almost entirely. It carries forward into the formation of seed. So in the blossom the potassium process is, as it were, released from its efficacy within the living. It refines itself into the state of the germinal — into what one can sense in image as the will-less opening gesture of the blossom. This state endures a moment, and already the germinal quality of this substance-process falls, with the dying-away of the plant, into mineralization, back into the state of the determinacy of physical properties. But at the moment of flowering, the preparation intervenes. Through the enveloping in the noble-game bladder and the further steps of the preparation, the potassium — which in the blossom has reached the highest stage of its transformation into the living — is detached from the bearer-plant and held in efficacy. This points to the fact that potassium, now in the current of its enlivening, becomes receptive to a higher sphere: to that of the revelation of its being. Through this, the earthly substance potassium is lifted not merely into the sphere of life, but into that of life bearing sentience. It becomes the bearer of a life permeated by inwardness.

Esto apunta a que el potasio se vuelve ahora, en el flujo de su vivificación, receptivo para una esfera superior, para la de la revelación de su ser. Por ello, la sustancia terrestre potasio queda elevada no solo a la esfera de la vida, sino a la del viviente portador de sensación. Se convierte en portador de una vida atravesada de interioridad.
